On April 2, 2025, at 4:00 PM, the CVG Foundation officially launched the Shanghai traveling show of 《Arena》, the first solo exhibition in Asia by American artist Jansson Stegner, at the iconic venue XiaoYou · QuYuan in Shanghai. As the second stop of the artist’s Asian tour, following its debut at the CVG Foundation Beijing space, the exhibition continues to showcase Stegner’s distinctive painterly practice and narrative expression to audiences in Shanghai. Jansson Stegner has held solo exhibitions at CVG Foundation, Beijing (2025); Nino Mier Gallery, Los Angeles (2018); Sorry We’re Closed, Brussels (2008); and Mike Weiss Gallery, New York (2005), among others. His work has been featured in group shows at Saatchi Gallery, London; Kohn Gallery, Los Angeles; and Jonathan LeVine Gallery, New York. He holds an MFA from the University at Albany, NY (2001), and a BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (1995). In 2015, he received both the New York Foundation for the Arts Painting Fellowship and the Deutsche Bank NYFA Fellowship. His work has been covered in publications such as Whitehot Magazine, Candy, and The New Yorker. Stegner currently lives and works in New York.
